Honeymoon -- Day 9

Ansil here (again).
Lucky you ;)

So on Thursday we strapped our boots up really tight (or at least laced up our Asics), and set off to (willingly) soar across the jungles and woods of Kauai on the zippingest, zippiest adventure of them all.   We have photographic AND video evidence!

On the trail up the mountain, riding in decommissioned European troop carriers with (would you believe it) LESS padding than current American troop carriers!

Gearing up. It's really high up.

And my lovely wife! Doesn't she look professional?

The bleached-hair, sun-tanned, cool lingo-slinging Zipline guides were kind enough to take our picture on top of the mountain.

Ready to rock!

The toad seemed happy where he was. He would miss out!!

It was very beautiful.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Last one!

By the end of the zipline (seven of them, to be precise), Danielle was ready to zip another seven!

Awkward suits, to say the least. I have BRUISES.

Cool bamboo trees at the end of the the hike.

Danielle's couple self-portrait skills are legendary!

Danielle says it's artsy. For a one-eyed man, I guess she's right!

........

And now...
The Moment For Which You Have All Been Waiting....

Honeymoon -- Day 8

Aloha!
Danielle here.
Will you CHECK OUT this sexy specimen of manhood I spotted on the beach the other day!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Yum!

He is, like, super white. ;)
And gorgeous.
<3

And THIS, ladies and gentlemen, is the official bird of Kauai.
Not even kidding. They're everywhere.

Oh look! It's me. :)

Honeymoon -- Day 7

Whew!! Round 3!! I can do this!!

THIS is a cooperative effort of the Hethcox family (Ansil and Danielle style) to make an edible breakfast. Let's hypotheize, let's spitball, let's play a game. Let's say it was ALL edible. Let's further say that the pancakes, maybe made by yours truly, were delicious.
Thank you, oh great pancake mix in the sky.
One day, one breakfast down!

Interesting note: multiple places insist that their shave ice is THE best shave ice on Kauai.
We've tried a few.
The best thing so far? Not even shave ice.
A Pineapple Frosty from Banana Joe's.
CHANGE YOUR NAME, BANANA JOE!
Pineapple Joe.
How smooth.
How suave.
How....creamy and delicious.
YUM.

Don't I look like a banana. Oh yes I do.

THAT, my friends, is a CUTE banana. I think I should ask that banana out or something. And when that banana says yes, I shall be ecstatic. Viva la bananas!

Honeymoon -- Day 6

Ladies and gentlemen.....
The Hale Kokio!
Someone said Kokio means hibiscus.
It's about as good a meaning as any for four of the twelve letters of the Hawaiian language strung together (sorry, I just had to point out how more than half of the English alphabet just....disappeared on the trip across the Pacific. It's worse than Amelia Earheart!).

Oh, yeah, speaking of trips, we took one. To Kauai (Kaua'i?....I give up).
It was a a grand total of about twenty three minutes in the air--barely enough time for the stewards to pry the still-juicy cartons of....well, juice from our hands.
It was just our kind of trip!

We got into Lihue, which seems to be the happening place on the island, sorted out everything, and headed all the way north to Kilauea, where the Hale Kokio (House of the Hibiscus perhaps?) awaited.

And our glorious (and now semi-permanently sandy on the driver's side) rental car!

And the palace!

There are chickens everywhere! Is that homey or what?

Trust me, your life would have been sadly incomplete without seeing a picture of me, shirtless, in front of a grill. It's one of those once in a lifetime opportunities.

....keep telling yourself that.

Honeymoon -- Day 5

Welcome, welcome.
Ansil here.
And THIS is Danielle next to a....watermill? It *may* be the sole source of power of the Japanese steakhouse that we walked by in downtown Waikiki (on the corner of Luhauiwuiaolla and Kwihaaimeeaha). Sadly, do you even know whether I made up those names or not?

And THIS is a....goose.
....I think. The red beak is disconcerting.
Or....AWESOME.

My lovely wife. I grew the flower in her hair myself.
What?

Impressive Honolulu skyscrapers. Very much like a city, if you must know.

They must put beer in the fountain at the Ala Moana Mall. Those fish are ginormous.

Awww. She is so beautiful!
Also, we didn't even stay at this hotel but we found it perfectly acceptable to utilize their waterfall.

...

So that was our outing to Ala Moana.
And the surrounding sea of English and non-English speaking tourists.
And the car with Hello Kitty seat covers.

Honeymoon -- Day 4

Not gonna lie, we were a bit lazy about taking photos yesterday.
We spent several hours stretched out on Waikiki and I'm a tad nervous about the combination of sand/water and my expensive camera lens. :\

Still, we did manage to remember to take a few pictures of last night's dinner cruise.
Yes. Cruise.
So cool!

...

We had a delicious meal in good company on board the Ali'i Kai Catamaran ship.

Dinner was served on the first deck...

With the opportunity to venture up to the upper two observation decks.

It was a lovely and romantic evening.

Honeymoon -- Day 3

Whew! Busy few days here. Doing my best to catch up. :)

At the suggestion of two travel agents and several friends, we visited the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Ansil loved it!

Oh yeah. Right up his alley!

I scored a snazzy new hat and a shaved ice.

Ansil got to feed the fishies...

This is his serious fish-feeding face.
Fierce.

It's hard to see, but that canal was absolutely packed with fish!
The water looked like it was boiling wherever the food fell.
Personally, it was a bit disturbing.
Piranha!!!
Ahem.

"Eewww it smells like turtle food."

I believe this photo was taken to demonstrate some sort of size comparison.
Or something about dinosaurs.
Something.
Ansil was being cryptic.

Ooooooooooooo
This almost immediately became the new background on Ansil's phone.
Epic.

...

And in the interest of catching up, guess where I am?
(And yes, we spent the morning on the beach and that is one brutal sunburn!)

Woohoo!! Best Pineapple Whip ever! Yum!
We bought... 3.
Yes, we were there no more than an hour and went through the long line twice. It's that good!

Our love to you all!
